Christine Parmenter

 Christine Parmenter

Christine was born in Essex in 1946 and moved to North Norfolk in 2001. It was when she moved to Norfolk that she started painting seriously. Due to her involvement with the local school and the North Norfolk Railway Christine does not paint as often as she would like.

Although she has no formal art education two of her paintings were selected for the exhibition at Norwich Castle to celebrate the bicentary of the Norwich School of Painters. One of those paintings, Walking home from Weybourne was chosen to be in the East Anglian Art Fund's 2006 calendar.

Christine paints mainly in oils on canvas or board although sometimes she uses acrylics. She paints in her studio, a brick shed in the garden with her cat Billy. She loves the wildness of Norfolk and the amazing colours of the sea

Her favourite artists are Edward Hopper and Jack Vettriano for their strong sense of mystery and place

Christine has also written a children's story called Wally the Worm and is currently seeking a publisher.
